College of Santa Fe
The Challenge
The College of Santa Fe had grown their Albuquerque campus over several
years in a facility that was not designed or modified to fit their specific
needs for adult education classes. As a result, they were unclear as
to what square footage was required in a functionally designed space
and future growth had not been programmed into their requirement. The
approval process was structured with two decision making bodies. One
group was the Administration and Staff of the Santa Fe and Albuquerque
campuses and the second decision base was the Board of Directors for
the College.
The Solution
After extension interviews and programming, we created forms to understand
both the current and future growth needs for the Albuquerque campus.
In addition, selection criteria and decision matrix charts were established
to help rank potential sites and merit/value of the proposed spaces.
After a thorough search of market alternatives, a short list of properties
was identified and the Request for Proposal process initiated. Three
primary sites were subjected to closely held negotiations and Pine Tree
Corporate Center was finally selected as their new home for a state
of the art College Campus of 42,0000 square feet with both expansion
and contraction options negotiated to allow the College to adjust with
changing market conditions. The final site met all financial, functional
and future needs criteria as established for this assignment.
This process was initiated with discovery sessions in September and
consummated with occupancy in the new facility in July of the following
year.
