Albuquerque's economy has failed to grow at all since last year. But that still makes it the best performing metropolitan area in the Intermountain West and one of the best performers in the nation.

That's according to a study to be released today by the Brookings Mountain West initiative, which also found that employment in Albuquerque declined less than in any other of the region's 10 largest metropolitan areas.

And the study showed that the region is recovering from the recession more slowly than the rest of the country but recovery seems to have begun in September.
